Commitment to Practice Innovation
The College of Pharmacy is dedicated to improving the health of citizens in New Mexico through innovation in practice, advocacy and community outreach.
Clinical faculty in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administrative Sciences provide pharmacy services in a diverse array of practice settings. Clinical faculty improve the health of patients and of our communities by optimizing drug therapy, improving adherence to medications, enhancing medication safety, providing health education, administering vaccinations, providing health screenings and serving as vital members of interprofessional health care teams.
Throughout our history, faculty have continued to forge new roles for pharmacists and new models of care that not only improve the health of our communities, but also serve as practice laboratories to prepare our students to be next generation of pharmacy providers.
Acknowledging the importance of appropriate medication management in patients with chronic conditions, the College of Pharmacy has expanded its presence in primary care and specialty clinics across the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center system and across New Mexico, using innovative technologies and new clinical programs that include:
- Medication Therapy Management
