Pharmacy Scholarships

New Mexico Pharmacists Association: High scholastic achievement, commitment to practice pharmacy in New Mexico and financial need.

CVS Scholarship: High scholastic achievement and financial need.

College of Pharmacy Endowed Scholarship: High scholastic achievement and financial need.

The Arthur B. Hall and Anna Mae Hall Pharmacy Scholarship: Good academic standing and financial need.

Wal*Mart Stores Inc.: High scholastic achievement, strong leadership qualities, a desire to enter community pharmacy practice upon graduation, current/previous experience in community pharmacy and financial need. Preference given to Walmart/Sam’s Club interns and/or students that have completed their IPPE Rotation at Walmart or Sam’s Club.

Merritt/Long Memorial Endowed Scholarship: Good academic standing. First preference will be given to a resident of New Mexico who graduated from a New Mexico high school.

Robert Timothy Elsbrock College of Pharmacy Endowed Scholarship: High scholastic achievement and financial need. Preference given to students from northern New Mexico with a desire to return there after graduation.

William C. Fiedler Scholarship: High scholastic achievement and financial need.

Burroughs-Wellcome Pharmacy Education Scholarship: High scholastic achievement and financial need.

Chester Radecki Endowed Scholarship: Good academic standing and financial need. Preference will be given to a graduate of a high school in Santa Fe County, N.M.

Phi Delta Chi Achievement Scholarships: High scholastic achievement and demonstrated leadership in pharmacy school.

Albertsons Pharmacies Scholarship: High scholastic achievement, current employment in a community pharmacy setting and residency in a state served by Albertsons. Preference may be given to an Albertsons Osco, Albertsons Sav-on, Acme Sav-on, Jewel-Osco or Shaws Osco associate.

National Association of Chain Drug Stores: High scholastic achievement and financial need.

New Mexico Society of Health-System Pharmacists Award: High scholastic achievement, desire to practice in health-system pharmacy and involvement in SSHP at the UNM College of Pharmacy.

Spencer Santage Memorial Scholarship: First-year pharmacy student, financial need and must be a U.S. citizen and a first-generation pharmacy student.

Dean and Jane Peyton Pharmacy Student Scholarship: Must be a first-year pharmacy student, demonstrated community volunteer activity and financial need. First preference given to applicants who graduated from high school or received their pre-pharmacy education at a college in Luna, Hidalgo, Grant or Sierra counties in New Mexico.

Stanley M. Reinhaus Family Foundation Scholarship: Must be a first-year pharmacy student, a resident of New Mexico and plan to practice in New Mexico, have a pre-pharmacy GPA of at least 2.5, and be interested in hospital or retail pharmacy.

Walgreens Diversity and Inclusion Excellence Award: Scholarship awarded to student who embraces diversity and promotes diversity and inclusion initiatives on campus. Good academic standing and financial need.

Walgreens Diversity Scholarship: Scholarship awarded to a student from an underrepresented minority group with an interest in community pharmacy. Good academic standing and financial need.

Pharmacy Awards

Outstanding Pharmd Research Awards: Recognizes two outstanding pharmd student research projects (one in Pharmaceutical Sciences and one in Pharmacy Practice and Administrative Sciences). Students’ projects are nominated by their research mentors and the winner is selected by the faculty of the respective departments.

Joy H. Donelson Leadership Award For Women Students In Pharmacy: Awarded to graduating female students who have demonstrated high standards of leadership in the UNM Doctor of Pharmacy program.

New Mexico Society Of Health System Pharmacy – Intern Of The Year Award: Recognizes the hospital pharmacy intern who has contributed the most to the advancement of pharmacy practice in a New Mexico hospital during the past year.

New Mexico Pharmacists Association Award: Recognizes the graduating student who has demonstrated the highest proficiency in scholarship, clinical community pharmacy and involvement in student professional organizations throughout his or her time at the UNM College of Pharmacy.

Rho Chi Awards: The Rho Chi awards are awarded for academic excellence in the first three semesters of the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum.

H.E. Henry Award: The family of the late H.E. Henry presents an annual gift to a UNM College of Pharmacy graduating student based on scholarship, academic ability and promise in the field of pharmacy.

Merck & Company Award In Mechanisms Of Drug Action: Merck & Co. Awards a reference book to a student who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry.

Merck & Company Award In Pharmaceutics: Merck & Co. Awards a reference book to a student who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in Pharmaceutics.

Usphs Excellence In Public Health Pharmacy Practice Award: Recognizes a student who has been involved in public health issues in his or her community and increases awareness of the Public Health Service and its mission to protect, promote and advance the health and safety of our nation.

Hslic William Troutman Award For Excellence In Information Retrieval, Analysis And Communication: Recognizes a graduating student who, throughout his or her academic career at the College of Pharmacy has demonstrated familiarity with a variety of information resources, skill in using resources to retrieve information, the ability to critically evaluate information, and the ability to integrate and communicate that information in a professional environment.

Mylan Pharmaceuticals Award: The award is presented to a graduating student who is in the top 25% of the graduating class academically and has demonstrated utmost professionalism.

College Of Pharmacy Patient Care Award: The College of Pharmacy recognizes students for excellent performance during their pharmacy rotations. The award focuses on patient relations in both hospital and community practice. The role of the pharmacist has expanded to include added responsibilities for direct care. In concert with these changes, the College of Pharmacy would like to honor students who excel in areas of patient care, such as communication skills, patient counseling, drug utilization review, therapeutic drug monitoring and drug regimen evaluation and recommendations.

Facts And Comparisons Award: This award is presented to the graduating student who has demonstrated excellence in clinical communication skills. This student is in the top 25% of the graduating class academically and is recognized superior verbal and written communication skills.

College Of Pharmacy Communications Award: Recognizes a graduating student who has demonstrated effective pharmacist/patient communication abilities and achievements.

Teva Pharmaceuticals Outstanding Student Award: Awarded to a graduating student who has excelled in the study of pharmacy.

Natural Standards Research Collaborations Award: The award is granted to an exemplary individual for perpetuating multi-disciplinary, evidence-based research practices, health care communications or information.

Eli Lilly Achievement Award: Awarded to a graduating student in recognition of scholastic and professional achievement, leadership ability and ethical conduct.

College Of Pharmacy Scholastic Excellence Award: This award is presented to the graduating student who has attained the highest grade point average for the course of study in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum.
