Anderson received a BS in biology (1988) and a BS in pharmacy (1991) from the University of New Mexico. He received his PharmD from The University of Texas at Austin in 1995.
Anderson’s research interests are in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, specifically as it relates to heart failure and primary and secondary ASCVD prevention, and health outcomes, particularly as they pertain to advanced pharmacy practice. His laboratory (shared with his colleague, James Nawarskas, PharmD) has expertise in the assessment of platelet aggregation through the use of whole blood aggregometry equipment. Recently, Anderson collaborated with colleagues to identify and validate a novel biomarker of cigarette smoke-induced CV disease and to evaluate novel endothelial cell biosensor methodology to detect subclinical inflammation in patients of varying degrees of CV risk.
